Deep Groove Mono in Person at Hot Club of NY This November

I will be leading a listening session and discussion at Hot Club of New York on Friday, November 7 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Though the club typically features jazz on 78 R.P.M. disks, this will be one of the their first public ventures into the microgroove mono LP era of the 1950s and ’60s. Several hard bop classics will be played on the club’s impressive, period-correct mono sound system, which includes an RCA SP-20 tube amplifier and matching LC-1 loudspeaker. All selections will be played with a period-correct mono cartridge, the General Electric VRII. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for members. Also noteworthy, the WFMU Record Fair will be taking place the same weekend just a few blocks away.
