Deep Groove Mono is proud to announce the launch of two collector guides. These guides are the result of a research project intended to develop a better understanding of the methods of legendary jazz recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder. The first guide is a “collector’s discography” of Van Gelder’s classic recordings, including sessions for all the jazz labels he worked for, and the second is a “mono/stereo guide” for Blue Note’s 1500 and 4000 series. The guides will be regularly accessible through the “resources” tab in the site’s menu bar. In the coming weeks, I will be publishing a guest article on London Jazz Collector about Blue Note’s transition from mono to stereo. Until then, click the links below and have fun exploring!
